Q: What laws are there around Airsoft?

A: There are lots but these are what we feel are most important

-You must be 18 (or 16+ with a firearms license) to purchase, sell or transport an Airsoft gun

-You must not present an Airsoft gun in public

- While many overseas countries may consider Airsoft guns to be more like “toys”, in NZ they are considered Airguns and while they are not treated the same as firearms they still must be treated with the same respect and safety

Q: Where do I get an Airsoft Replica (gun)

Before you buy - Get out & play Airsoft, most clubs have hire gear available!

Do your research and make sure you know what you want, a good airsoft replica is an investment into your enjoyment of the sport

All airsoft sales are R18+ (or 16+ with a F.A.L)  & any store or permit will need you to prove you are a club member - be cautious with any transaction that are not asking for these

Your Local store - Remember to shop local and support the store that supports you, If you're brand new to airsoft then we recommend buying new, this will require you also to prove you are a member of a club - Unlimited Airsoft has 3 locations across the country

You can also buy online from New Zealand retailers like Unlimited Airsoft and Reapertech Airsoft - this requires you to email ID & club membership proof

Overseas Import Permit - This is a more difficult option as you will need to visit your local arms office and fill out forms, wait for approval, then send those forms to the store you are purchasing from - details you will need are, Exact make and model, Store & country you are buying from & Proof of club membership / Age  - these can take 6 months to be approved plus shipping time, you also will not get the same after sales support as shopping local

Secondhand Sales  - these are more risky however they can be a great way to save money!

you can shop online but always be wary, this is not recommended for your first purchase

You can buy second hand off Airsoft Trader - we recommend asking a trusted Airsofter to "legit check" something you are looking at to prevent disappointment

Q: How old do I need to be to play Airsoft?

A:   Anyone can play Airsoft, although there are things to consider:

-  Any under 18 needs to be supervised while handling Airsoft Replicas by someone over 18

-  To own an Airsoft Replica you must be over 18 (or 16 with a F.A.L.)

-  Airsoft can hurt!, we recommend 13+ as the age most kids have the maturity

Q: How do I buy an airoft Replica Online?

A: Unlimited Airsoft have this handy graphic, this is the same/ very similar to all online stores!

Q: Where should I store my Airsoft gear?

A: The best option with is to always treat them as if they were real, if you can lock them somewhere inside your house that is best

If that is not an option then in a cupboard or area that is out of sight & reach of the public & anyone who should not have access (under 18's)  is the next best option, storing them in a hard case or box is also a good idea

Q: How do I transport my Airsoft gear?

Always take carful consideration of how people may interpret how you look when you are traveling too and from an airsoft game - its best to get changed out of any camo BDU

Ensure you lock your Airsoft replica in your car boot or place them well out of sight in your car
